We are known for providing exciting and unique opportunities for Australians to enhance their capabilities in-line with the world's best. As well it is a program creating and supporting significant international and cross-cultural relationships.

The ISS Institute fellowships are an exciting and unique opportunity for Australians to enhance their capabilities.
The fellowship program
is the means by which skill and knowledge gaps are identified and verified, and then matched to overseas organizations where the skills can be acquired. Australians travel overseas or experts travel to Australia. Importantly, fellows must pass on what they have learnt through a Report and a wide range of the ISS Institute education and training activites and events such as workshops, lectures, seminars, forums, exhibitions and conferences. The activities place these capabilities, plus insights (attitudinal change), into the minds and hands of those that use them - trades and professional people alike - the multiplier effect. Individuals gain; industry and businesses gain; the Australian community gains economically, educationally and culturally.

We agree with Dianne Beevers who wrote following her particpation in Erling Christoffersen's 'Scandinavian Furniture Workshop: Concept, Design, Materials, Techniques, Manufacturing' and the '02 Sensational Screens' exhibition at Melbourne Museum 1. The ISS Institute Fellowship Program holds a unique position since it delivers tangible outcomes directly to major interest groups across multiple tiersof industry and education - within Australia 2. Such links are critical for Australia, overcoming the tyranny of distance, enabling participation in international discourse and skill sharing within Australia - hence the most economically viable strategy to deliver with the greatest impact. 3. Acts as a catalyst to prompt the uptake of specialised skills and knowledge, where most fertile. 4. Encourages the cross fertilization of concepts/skills through partnerships or collaborations between individuals and organizations.
