Fellowship application form

The Italian Australian Foundation and the International Specialised Skills Institute (ISS Institute) are offering two (2) International Fellowships in the amount of $10,000 each in the later half of 2022.

The 2022 Italian Australian Foundation Fellowship provides an opportunity for Australian residents of Italian descent to acquire higher-level skills and drive leading practice and innovation in Australia. It is intended that the Fellowship will demonstrate potential benefits for, and application in, Australia.

Typical Fellowships involve short intensive courses at/or visits to, Centres of Excellence in areas/sectors in which the applicant has existing qualifications and skills. Proposed Fellowships can focus on any area worthy of international investigation and exploration, with preference given to Fellowships looking to travel to Italy.

About this Fellowship

The 2022 Italian Australian Foundation Fellowship provides an opportunity for individuals to acquire higher-level skills and drive leading practice and innovation in Australia by undertaking an immersion activity in a centre of excellence aligned to one of the areas listed below. It is intended that the Fellowship will demonstrate potential benefits for, and practical application in, Australia.

Applications should focus on areas in which Italians have both traditionally, in modern times and now emerging, made outstanding contributions to the world, including: industrial skills in building, agriculture, culinary arts, artistry, artisanship, design, communications, inventiveness, technology and innovation, advanced manufacturing, scientific research, energy and the environment, and IT.

Applications are open to Australian residents of Italian descent. Preference will be given to candidates who will be traveling to Italy as part of their Fellowship, however innovative Fellowship proposals that require travel to other destinations will also be considered. Applications will also be considered from Australian residents not of Italian descent but who wish to visit Italy to undertake their Fellowship. 

The Italian Australian Foundation

The Italian Australian Foundation (previously the Italian Services Institute Inc.) is an association dedicated to providing welfare and education services for disadvantaged persons of Italian descent who are a resident of Australia who would not otherwise have access to those services.

International Specialised Skills Institute (ISS Institute)

The ISS Institute was founded 29 years ago, by a small group of innovative leaders who had a vision of building a community of industry specialists who would lead the up skilling of the Australian workforce. Investing in the development of talented, passionate and innovative Australians to travel abroad to develop new skills and knowledge and return to Australia to disseminate their learnings has, and continues to create a ‘better skilled Australia.’ The Institute has funded and supported over 500 Fellows, and all have become agents of change and drivers of innovation within their professional communities. Our Fellows represent a broad cross-section of industries and our Fellowship program creates impact in many ways including economic benefits, skills preservation, the personal and professional advancement of our Fellows, new thinking, practice and increased innovation in the workforce.
