Although the world may seem like a crazy place right now, it is important to recognise that just because the world has stopped momentarily, that your goals and ambitions don’t have to!
Although one of the main aspects of our Fellowship Program involves overseas travel, we are dedicated to a ‘business as usual’ approach at the International Specialised Skills Institute. We are grateful that our partners (Department of Education and Training, George Alexander Foundation and Australian Italian Foundation) continue to support us, the Fellowship Program, and our Fellows at this time. We have been working to assist our Fellows in any way we can to ensure that their commitment to, and passion for, their Fellowship objectives is maintained and that the Fellowship Program continues to create outcomes and impact.
While we have had to put a pause on the travel component of the Fellowship Program, the learning continues as our Fellows share the knowledge and skills gained during their international travels with others across their respective industry sectors. This is always a critical component of the Fellowship Program but even more important in our current times as people grapple with new ways of working. Whilst this is a daunting and challenging time, we have adapted to this Pandemic and are delighted that we can continue to support the personal and professional growth and skills acquisition of so many Australians through our Fellowship Program.
The plus side to this current situation is that our Fellows have an extended planning time pre their international travel which we are confident will enhance their overseas experience and overall learning. Our 2020 Fellows are planning, researching and preparing to ensure that they are ready to jump on that plane when it is safe to do so!
We sincerely thank our partners and our Fellows who have shared this unexpected journey with us and who have supported us every step of the way as we adapted the way we work including delivering our Fellowship inductions days and holding our Fellowship interviews via Zoom and for the first time offering our Illuminate series via a virtual platform. Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to the Fellowship Program.
Our final round of DET Fellowships for 2020 opens this Friday and we encourage anyone who is employed as a VET practitioner in Victoria and is passionate about creating change in the sector to apply.
Please spread the word about our organisation and the wonderful opportunities that a Fellowship creates.
Stay safe and keep learning!
