Michael Dal Zotto

2009 George Alexander Foundation Fellow

ISS Institute George Alexander Foundation Fellow, Michael Dal Zotto, traveled to Valdobbiadene, the birthplace of prosecco, and learnt from the original prosecco producers.  Since then, Michael assumed a pivotal role in pioneering Prosecco winemaking in the country. His vision and dedication have been instrumental in introducing the authentic essence of Prosecco to the Australian wine landscape. The impact of the Fellowship extends beyond the individual, as evidenced by the Dal Zotto family’s significant contributions to the Australian wine industry. Through the employment of numerous staff members in wine production and distribution, they have bolstered the local economy and fostered growth within the industry. Their exceptional leadership has elevated the King Valley region to the forefront of Prosecco production in Australia. Crediting the ISS Institute with being instrumental to their success, Michael Dal Zotto said:

“There is no doubt that the Fellowship has given the family credibility and the ability to grow as a business. When we released Australia’s first Prosecco in 2004, we released 375 dozen, in 2019 we produced more than 51,000 dozen.”
