Who We Are
Sir James Gobbo
Founder 1931-2021
Sir James Gobbo
Sir James Gobbo's parents migrated to Australia in 1938 when he was seven. He was educated in Melbourne and at Oxford University, where he was Victorian Rhodes Scholar for 1952.
After a successful career as a barrister, he was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1978. In 1997, he was appointed Governor of Victoria, the first person of non-English speaking background ever to be appointed to that office in Australia. He founded the International Specialised Skills Institute in 1991 with a vision of building a community of industry specialists who would lead the up-skilling of the Australian workforce.

Adrian CA qualified senior finance and accounting professional with a ‘big 4’ background and significant commercial leadership experience. His diverse background includes the Chief Financial Officer role for Nufarm’s Australia & New Zealand businesses, a Regional Finance leadership role for Hospira’s APAC businesses, and previous roles managing teams within JP Morgan Chase and KPMG.
Prof. Amalia Di Iorio AM
Chair Person
Amalia has been on the board of The International Specialised Skills Institute since 2017. She currently is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Educational Partnerships) at La Trobe university.
Jeremy Gobbo KC
Board Member
Jeremy Gobbo is the son of ISSI Founder Sir James Gobbo. Jeremy is a barrister with the Victorian Bar, which is a professional association representing 2200 Barristers in Victoria.
Alisia Romanin
Secretary
Alisa has been with The International Specialised Skills Institute since 2014. She currently works for La Trobe University as the Associate Director, External Engagement and Campaign Operations.
Vicki Abraham
Board Member
Vicki is an Occupational Therapist by trade and is the Managing Director of Abraham OT Services (AOTS). Her vision has always been to continually evaluate community needs and for her practice to provide timely and evidence-based services to her clients so they can live their best life no matter their disability. Vicki’s sole desire has always been to be able to provide Australians with care and services that are considered routine in the rest of the world. In 2013, Vicki completed her George Alexander Fellowship within the rehabilitation field, by visiting Europe, the Middle East and America. Vicki’s vision continues to be driven by wanting to assist her clients to be able to live their best lives, support them to strive further than they imagined and to provide a fun environment to build their confidence with tasks everyone else takes for granted.
