Synopsis

Rakesh's Fellowship aimed at implementing Phenomenon Based Learning in the teaching of Foundation Skills programs to students from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background. The researcher visited Finland in 2022 to get a first-hand understanding of the incorporation of this pedagogy by speaking with local teachers, academics and policy-makers. Upon his return, he undertook action research funded by VET Development Centre (VDC). The work involved trialling PhBL inspired projects in the teaching of EAL curriculum at AMES Australia. The results clearly indicated that both Victorian learners and teachers benefitted from the pedagogy as it enhanced engagement, learning experience and enjoyment.
