Synopsis

Migrants constitute a significant portion of Australia’s population. However, despite their extensive experience and qualifications from their home countries, many face challenges in securing jobs in Australia, often remaining unemployed or underemployed. This represents not only a loss of their skills but also an underutilization of human resources. Addressing this issue through enhanced language training and improved recognition of overseas qualifications could optimize their potential. This fellowship report examines strategies to enhance English language training, aiming for quicker integration of migrants into the workforce, drawing inspiration from practices observed overseas, mainly  Sweden and Germany.
