Synopsis
This 2024 International VET Practitioner Fellowship Co-designing the case-based pedagogy and assessment in vocational teacher training proposes a five-domain VOCase Model to support the upskilling of vocational educators in teacher education. The interconnected domains include Advancing teaching and learning; Scaffolding professional experience; Modelling learners’ employability skills; Collaborating on professional development and Increasing provider visibility and branding. Each domain demonstrates how case-based pedagogy can effectively enrich vocational learning and promote innovative thinking and co-design perspective and combined, they represent a powerful framework for embedding case-based pedagogy across the Australian vocational TAFE sector, with the potential to significantly enhance teacher quality, student outcomes, and industry partnerships.
