The Initial Teacher Education of Vocational Education and Training Upper Secondary Teachers in Norway and Finland - Lessons for Australia

This International Specialised Skills Institute Fellowship report investigates the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) of Vocational Education and Training (VET) teachers in Finland and Norway. It explores ITE pathways for industry professionals in Finland and Norway to understand how these countries produce high-quality VET teachers for their upper secondary school sectors. This investigation was conducted as an applied pragmatic multi-method study and funded by the Victorian Department of Education. It presents data, findings and recommendations, and argues for the introduction of comparable ITE pathways to produce a pipeline of high-quality VET secondary teachers to resource Australian VET school programs.
