Synopsis

Through the ISS Institute's 2023 Mason Family Trust Fellowship, the Fellow was able to refine and validate his silvering practice, gaining international recognition and renewed confidence in his craft. Engaging with European artisans expanded both his technical skill and his role as an educator and advocate for handmade mirrors. The Fellowship sparked collaborations, workshops, and a broader business vision, positioning him as a leader in reviving this endangered practice in Australia. His research into historic and contemporary silvering techniques has shaped new creative directions, while his outreach and teaching efforts aim to preserve and share this vanishing artform, laying the groundwork for silvering’s revival and long-term preservation in contemporary practice.
