Synopsis

This Fellowship outlines the Fellow’s, Bobby Corica’s, research into traditional Italian craft techniques and their applications within design. Focusing on the field of contemporary jewellery, the Fellow travelled to Florence, Milan, Murano and Berlin to undertake practical and theoretical investigations into the materialities and techniques involved in glass and leatherwork. Through his research, the Fellow outlines the potential and limitations of these crafts within an Australian context, and their relationship to sustainability. Furthermore, in his report, the Fellow highlights the impact that his research will have on the sector of contemporary Australian (jewellery) design through creative application, community resource sharing, and education.
