Synopsis

Mei Wilkinson’s Fellowship at the M+ Museum in West Kowloon, Hong Kong, focused on time-based and software-based media conservation to address the gap in Australian expertise. Over the course of her placement she acquired hands-on experience in conserving a range of media, including digital and interactive artworks, such as troubleshooting electronics, digital preservation, and managing technological obsolescence. Mei’s experience at M+ Museum broadened her skills, allowing her to contribute directly to Australia’s conservation practices, specifically in the evolving area of time-based media artworks, which are increasingly significant in contemporary Australian collections
