Passivhaus Building Certification: ensuring ultra energy efficient, comfortable, healthy, quality homes.

Emilia Iacovino’s Fellowship report describes the Passivhaus construction standard and examines why it should be implemented in Australia to ensure that every building is fit for purpose, that is providing healthy comfortable energy efficient spaces that are resilient to climate change.

Emilia’s main Fellowship goal through was to obtain Passivhaus Building Certifier qualification because there were only three Australians with this qualification, and only two of these were practising, thus there is an acute need for this skillset locally. Since obtaining the certifier qualification, the Fellow has started certifying over 30 Passivhaus projects, which now represent most of their workload.
