Synopsis

This report details the experience of Danielle Measday, Conservator of Natural Sciences for Museums Victoria, who was awarded a George Alexander Fellowship in 2024. The fellow travelled to the United States in September and October 2024 to undertake a series of workplace immersions and training at prominent natural history museums, researching best practice in the treatment and recolouring of historic taxidermy collection. On return to Australia, this information including novel materials and techniques were disseminated to the benefit of the fellow’s own workplace and to the Australian  Conservation sector at large.
