Synopsis

In this fellowship report, Dr Jason Skues explores mental health literacy within the Victorian Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, examining how evidence-based mental health initiatives can be embedded into teaching practice and curriculum design. The fellowship involved collaboration with international leaders in mental health literacy, including Senator Stan Kutcher and Dr Yifeng Wei. The report investigates the mental health challenges faced by VET students, digital and pedagogical approaches to intervention, and strategies for improving teacher capability and student wellbeing. The research recommends scalable, digitally enabled, and culturally responsive mental health literacy frameworks across Victorian VET institutions.
