Synopsis
This report presents a comprehensive exploration of how artificial intelligence can be thoughtfully and ethically integrated into vocational education and training (VET) to enhance student engagement, learning outcomes, and educator capability. Through international fieldwork in Germany, Italy, and Singapore, the Fellow gathered valuable insights into global best practices in AI-enhanced education. These findings, along with ongoing collaboration with local stakeholders, helped shaping the development of the AI Integration Framework, which is based on real-world practice and focuses on key areas of student engagement: cognitive, emotional, social, wellbeing, and change management. The findings clearly demonstrate that AI, when strategically embedded in curriculum and pedagogy, can personalise learning, foster collaboration, increase motivation, and build digital resilience, especially among learners with low digital literacy. The framework recognises the central role of educators while positioning students as active agents in their own learning. It also underscores the importance of teacher professional development, ethical use of AI, and system-level support to ensure sustainable change. By placing learner engagement at the heart of AI integration, this Fellowship contributes meaningfully to shaping an inclusive, future-ready, and responsive education system, one that empowers both educators and students to thrive in an evolving digital world.
