Synopsis
Gina’s Fellowship, supported by Jobs Victoria and the International Specialised Skills Institute, explores innovative approaches to vocational support for young people experiencing mental ill-health. The report highlights the effectiveness of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model and introduces two new interventions trialled at Orygen, Vocational Peer Workers: Young people with lived experience provide peer support to others navigating employment challenges. As well as YOTES (Youth Online Training and Employment System): A moderated online platform offering career guidance and skill-building in a safe, accessible environment.
Gina’s international Fellowship included site visits and presentations in the USA and Canada, focusing on integrating technology and peer support into vocational recovery. The report concludes with recommendations to expand YOTES, evaluate peer work impact, and develop training resources for broader implementation.
