Creating an International Best Practice Culture for Gender Equity in Vocational Education

In this report, International VET Practitioner Fellow, Paul Hrasko, investigates international best-practice approaches to gender equity in vocational education and training (VET), with a focus on creating more inclusive pathways into traditionally male-dominated industries. Paul undertook international study in Sweden, Denmark and Norway, engaging with leading educators, industry representatives, government agencies and gender-equity initiatives. This Fellowship report explores inclusive pedagogy, industry–education partnerships, role-model programs, workforce participation and systemic approaches to cultural change. Drawing on Nordic models, Paul examines how VET providers can strengthen equity, improve learner outcomes and create safer, more inclusive training environments. Through this Fellowship, Paul hopes the research will support a future where vocational education actively dismantles barriers, expands opportunities and promotes gender equity across Australia’s workforce and training sectors.
