Synopsis

In this report, Mason Family Trust Fellow Rebecca Boehme investigates the future of stained glass conservation and restoration in Australia. Rebecca undertook six weeks of international study, including placements at leading stained glass studios, participation in courses and conferences, and visits to glass manufacturers across England and Germany. Rebecca's Fellowship report explores international stained glass conservation standards, professional accreditation, education pathways, best-practice restoration methods, and environmental protective glazing systems. Through this Fellowship, Rebecca hopes her research will help contribute to a future where traditional craftsmanship is balanced with innovation, and the preservation of Australia's stained glass is supported by best-practice conservation methods, ongoing education and professional collaboration.
