Nadine Keegan
2022 Mason Family Trust Fellow
Nadine Keegan is a 2022 Mason Family Trust Fellow and stained glass artist.

Nadine Keegan’s Fellowship experience was aimed towards the goal of increasing the utilisation of stained glass in contemporary architecture. Investigating Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau architecture in Europe provided education in how cultural and ideological philosophies have historically made the craft an important aspect of secular architecture, which can be translated to our current landscape in Australia.

The Fellowship impacted Nadine on a personal level by contributing to her growth, with the Fellowship providing her with the opportunity to validate and articulate feelings about the role of stained glass in contemporary society and the contribution she can make. Furthermore, through creating connections, Nadine feels the Fellowship instilled a new sense of belonging through an evolving network of international stained glass artisans and made her feel more confident in what she had to offer.
In a professional sense, the Fellowship help Nadine refine her approach to the design and manufacture of her stained glass windows. Through the holistic investigation of both technical details and broad philosophical contexts, the Fellow has increased the arsenal of inspirations from which windows can be envisioned. Results from projects have proven her expanded skill set post Fellowship.

Through her Fellowship, Nadine has impacted the sector through the cultivation of relationships with broader cultural institutions. The Fellow was invited to talk at Duldig Studio, a museum celebrating the life and work of the late artists Karl and Slawa Duldig. With connections to the Vienna Art Nouveau period this was a way to continue the conversation about this shared history, and disseminate the values inherent in the artistic philosophy.
