Did you spend 2020/21 teaching online? Or perhaps you were being taught online? Or have you simply thought of an idea related to the Vocational Education & Training sector that you think needs further research. There are many changing factors in the education sector, and there are so many more aspects that can contribute to the industry development and employment support of education in Victoria.
A Fellowship is the best way to make your mark on what means the most to you.
A great education system widens opportunities for all, reducing the impact of disadvantage, and empowers people with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to build healthy, happy and prosperous lives. A Fellowship is a productive and effective way that you can help eliminate the link between disadvantage and educational achievement.
So, what is this Fellowship about?
ISS Institute Fellowships offer Australians the chance to travel overseas and undertake skills development and applied international research into a topic or issue they are passionate about and/or to enhance their skills. The resulting learnings are often shared and used in education, training and across industries with the intention of generating actionable knowledge, finding solutions or developing innovative practice.
The Department of Education and Training works in partnership with us to fund the VET International Practitioner Fellowships. The Fellowship program focuses on developing opportunities within the VET sector. It is funded to support the priorities of Skills First, including developing capacity and capability, innovative training practices and increasing teacher quality within the VET sector as well as building industry capability and developing Victoria’s current and future workforce.
Not sure if you qualify for this Fellowship? Here’s the criteria:
An Australian Permanent Resident over the age of 18.
VET practitioners who are employed within Victorian Government contracted Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), including TAFEs, private RTOs and Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board registered Learn Local Providers (LL providers).
So, lets break down our VET Fellowships and what they involve:
Each year, there are Ten (10) Fellowships available across 3 rounds.
The Fellowship topic must sit under one of the following priority areas:
Priority area 1: Developing quality training with deep and meaningful connections to emerging or ongoing industry needs.
Priority area 2: Developing educational approaches that address the gaps between disadvantaged learners and high-quality education and training outcomes.
And once you’ve hand-picked your topic area, you’re all ready to begin the application process. You’ll need:
2 letters of support – these can come from your employer, peak industry body, industry/sector partner, government agencies, professional association or key partner.
An Employer Endorsement Letter – this shows that you have discussed your Fellowship application with your employer (e.g. CEO, director or senior manager).
And then, you’ll need to answer the questions in the Application form, read over your answers and documents to attached, and SEND!
